We were driving back this evening from an "open house" (farewell potluck meal and visit) in Duxbury, MA for 3 member families of our ward who are moving, when we saw a sign that said "Caution Swan Crossing". We slowed down and looked out on the water to try to see the swans. We almost passed right by them but then I noticed them right near the guardrail and pulled over to look at them and take pictures. The entire family looks for swans every time we pass by one of the millions of New England ponds. We were treated with two swan families on each side of the road consisting of a total of 7 baby swans. The kids (and mom and dad) were extremely excited. See the amazing pictures below.
Meet the Swan family. We don't care what they say...the ducklings aren't ugly...they were adorable. This picture was taken by Heather from the passenger window of our car.
Another amazing closeup of the beautiful family. They must be used to the attention because there was only minimal "hissing" (swan warnings to back off).

Here you can see the swan family and the pond in the background.

Here you can see just how close the little swan family was to our car. You can see the kids waving from the windows and the swan mother and cygnets (baby swans...we learned that is the official name in one of the kids bedtime books) looking on.
