Tonight was the 14th Annual Hingham Ward Primary Teacher Appreciation Night. Each primary child ages 5-11 were able to select their favorite teacher, be it primary teacher, parent, school teacher, piano teacher, or coach and invite them to this special night. The teachers arrived and were greeted by their students that gave them flowers, chocolates...tokens of appreciation. Pictures were then taken of the students and teachers and then they were taken to the chapel for the program. Emy invited her kindergarten teacher Mrs. Mullen and Logan invited his third grade teacher Miss Stuart. The program consisted of music and spoken word and then the children got to introduce their special teachers and explain what made their teacher so special. Logan and Emy practiced what they were going to say in the car on the way to the event and they both did a nice job paying tribute to their teacher. Vaughn (Curtis) sang "You Raise Me Up" as part of the special program. After the program there was a full dinner and dessert for the students and teachers. The kids had a wonderful time and their teachers felt loved and appreciated. Thank you for everything Miss Stuart and Mrs. Mullen.
The evening made me think back on all of the wonderful teachers I had throughout the school years, namely Mrs. Norton in kindergarten; Mrs. Hatch in 1st grade; Mrs. Summers in 2nd grade; Mrs. Harvigsten in middle school; Mrs. Cattani, Mr. Montague, Mrs. Stewart, and Mrs Heers in High School. I know they likely aren't reading this blog, but I thank them for their influence on my life.
Both Logan and Emy's grandmothers are teachers. Grandma Candy teaches special education in Preston, ID and Meemaw teaches first grade in an elementary school in Pleasant Grove, UT. They are both very special women and do an excellent job teaching.
Here is to the many wonderful teachers out there that give of themselves to help mold our future. We appreciate you!
