Evening at the Pumpkin Patch

Vaughn was fortunate enough to get off early from work so we took advantage of the time and went to a pumpkin patch in Holbrook, MA. The kids picked out their own pumpkins, and Heather got to pick out some mums.

Wyatt was a big boy pulling his own wagon . . . until it was filled with almost 75 lbs. of pumpkin!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins everywhere.Emy's working hard at cutting the vine.Saw, Baby, Saw! (OK, I've been watching too much Sarah Palin coverage)Wyatt has the cutest smile that he turns on for pictures in a snap.Isn't this the sweetest picture of Ashton? Look at that little face! You'd never guess the destruction he's capable of with those baby blues looking at you.

The kids are fascinated with giant pumpkins. They wanted to pick out one huge one to share as a family, but we told them we would need a fork lift and a truck to move it. In a few towns over in Sharon, MA, there is a pumpkin estimated to be over 1800 lbs. and could be a world record breaker. It is growing at 11 lbs. / day, and is waiting to be transported to a pumpkin competition. The trick will be getting it to the competition because if it breaks, it is disqualified. We grew several huge pumpkins a few years ago in our garden in Utah, and Logan has wanted to grow a prize winner ever since. Maybe someday when we have a big enough space, we can attempt that task. A prize winning pumpkin seed costs about $500 so we'll have to start saving up now!Bringing in the spoils! This perky rooster was cock-a-doodling the whole time we were at the farm. The kids had fun chasing him and his hens.Mums! After working up our appetites pumpkin picking, we stopped at Bugaboo Creek for dinner. This is a very kid-friendly restaurant filled with "stuffed" animals including a talking buffalo head and a dancing fish trophy. And, a talking tree!
Nothing says good eatin' like a talking mounted buffalo head!
More stuffed friends.

Is that a plastic butter knife you're letting Ashton cut his pumpkin stem with? Are you sure that's going to work?
